ok so i'm a begginer, first time i've done anything round and done any increasing/decreaseing. but my pattern says
Round 1, Ch2 sl st in to the first stitch, and sc 6 times (6)
How do i get 6 stitches in theres not enough room, though im not sure if im going through my stitches or the center of this tiny ring. where am i going wrong, the instructions that came with the kit, and its an 8+ kids crochet kit, are really poor and vauge, and in the pictures that show how to make a ring it has a chain of 7. The kit tells you to make a gauge swatch in sc but at no point tell you how to sc, guess they assume the 8+ beginners can already do this. Oh and if anyone was wondering im a totally baffled 25 year old!!!

I always use a magic circle for crocheting in the round:

Yes, the centre of the tiny ring. However I agree with the magic circle idea, that's what I do to.
Have a look at some of the crochet videos on Youtube, there are some really good ones. I like bethintx1 (think that's her name), she taught me to crochet pretty much.
Is your pattern english sc or american sc? American sc is what english patterns call dc.
EDIT: just had a look at the video that pink numbers linked to and it's a good demonstration of a magic circle.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0
