CAB debt help?

owe quite a few companies who have turned them over to debt agences, one EQL wont stop calling.
Went to CAB about 6months ago and they told me to get a credit report and come back. The woman said something about a £1 a month but she didnt really know what she was talking about and admitted to that so I didnt have much faith
anyways 6 months on a few more have appeared so applied for my credit report again which was about 8 pages as not got the old one. the new one has details of who I owe but is only 3 pages long now and has what companies but no addresses or phone numbers, there are also a few more recent ones that arent on there. There is also a court order that i was paying per month but cant afford it.
Do I go back to the CAB or try the someone else as the CAB were pretty poor last time and its need sorting

Hi youtakeit and welcome to the forum,
It sounds like you need to go back to the cab or contact the consumer credit counselling service for advice and assistance. You could also put you statement of affairs on here and you'd get loads of advice on how to save money which can then go towards your debts. http://www.makesenseofcards.com/soacalc.html
Regarding the phonecalls, when they call again, refuse to go through the security check, tell them you only wish to be contacted by letter and send the letter below.
Good luck
Dear Sirs,
Account No: XXXXXXXX
I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that I have received from your company, which I deem to be personally harassing. I have verbally requested that these stop, but I am still receiving calls and I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only. I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine. Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company may be recorded and used in evidence and I expect this harassment to cease immediately.
If you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

Hi and welcome
Some CABs have specialist debt advisors but I know in some branches it can be quite hard to get to see them.
I would suggest you do contact someone though as it sound like you need some help. IMPORTANT - Where to seek professional impartial advice about your debts.
As red suggests doing a statement of affairs would be a good idea as it should help you see how much you have for debt repayments and would be the info any charity would need to advise you best. If you post it on here we can also take a look and suggest a course of action, plus we might find areas you can save money to help make things easier each month.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Tixy is right. Some CAB's do have specialist debt advisors, but you can wait a few weeks to see them, as they are so busy, not because they don't care. The person you saw, was maybe the first point of contact, more for general advice. Make an appointment with them,to see a specialised debt advisor.
But in order to help yourself, you have to help them. So make sure you you have everything ready for that valuable appointment, SOA, any letters, all the documentation of relevance. Everything. They will also speak to your creditors on your behalf.
Although, i wish i'd found this website sooner. I might have been able to stop the 10's of phone calls i used to get everyday, had i known.
