If you are self employed and have forgotten to pay some of your NI contributions do they let you know (as it will affect your pension) or do they just say hard luck when it comes to your retirement.

~Really in effect it should not affect your retirment pension as of todays rules you need only 30 years contributions to get a full pension.
Easily attainable through out a life time of work.
However, it will affect any benefits you may need to apply for in a couple of years time. ESA, job seekers etc.
Hope that helspmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Self employed only benefit from the basic state pension. Not the additional state pensions which dont accrue on class 2 NI but on class 1.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
