En Suite Bathroom Design

Can anyone recommend how to best go down this route?
I live up in the North West and would like to have an En suite built but I have no idea where to start.
I went up to my local MFI (Crescent Link, L/Derry) and they came out did the measurements and when they showed me the plans I was disguted, my youngest son (9) could have done better.
The plans consisted of a bath, toilet, shower just cut and paste into the area available.
There is plently of room available as my bedroom is 24 ft long and 13 ft wide, I was planning to 6 - 8 ft from the length for the en suite area and would really like somewhere nice to unwind.
I have no problem paying someone to design this for me but don't know where to start, has anyone any ideas?
Advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John

Last year I designed my own bath/shower room. I used the online barthroom planner at http://www.mfi.co.uk/mfi/content/dolbathrooms.asp and worked out where I would like the major items such as shower tray, sink, and toilet placed. I then printed this out and got a plummer to call out and ensure that the positions I used where viable. Then it was a matter of going around all the builders merchants / diy stores to select the items I wanted. It really was not difficult so you should give it a go.
Good luck0
