Anyway - I got to work, and I was going to have my breakfast as usual, when my new boss told me that I wasn't allowed to eat today because I needed to make a good impression on our clients!!! She said that I had 'let myself go'...in public!

Okay - I'm 5 ft 12 and weigh 11 stone, but I have a limited amount of fat mass. But she is comparing me 5 years ago when I weighed 8.5 stone (i.e. - looking very ill!). I had to go do promotions tonight, without food, but I had to drink lots of alcohol! Not a sensible idea....
I got home tonight and had bowl of rice with soy sauce. Yum! (Ahem!)

I LOVE my stews, but if my job is at risk, I had better revise my menu to fit the 'weight loss' plan. It will cost me less, but....anyway....
Personally I don't think that men are supposed to look 'too' skinny anyway!

Is that allowed? Sounds like harrassment to me! :( Surely your weight/appearance is not a matter for public discussion?
    Not very pleasant for you!

İm an English man with a Turkish wife and 13 year old daughter - we live in Turkey and İ have no idea what our monthly shopping bill is but would love to find out and see where we can save some money--i need advice--i would like to start in November but need some clues of how to go about it--shop keepers tend not to receipt you in the small shops where we buy a lot of our day to day food-as far as i can work out the local small shops are no dearer than the local supermarkets which is where we get our bulk of stuff-the quality of fruit and veg is very high and you get much more diversity-i have got my wife on board in this quest to seek out the most economical way to live and eventually get a balanced budget for ourselves!!(and even aim to reduce an amount i have no idea about!!)
On writing this it has struck me that we must use some of our freetime to do a monthly shop in an out of town larger supermarket-- at ther moment we tend to pick things up between work and home in smaller markets--in the past i have always got shocked by the size of the bill once my wife and i go to one of these larger places because we tend to go a bit mad it seems!!--its all there in one bulk!!
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.

I've been really good this week and haven't bought anything since I went to Morrisons on Sunday with the exception of milk. I'm already shopping from November's budget of £170 and have £112.74 remaining.

We're also trying to run down the freezer as my parents are visiting in a few weeks and my dad wants to bring us a load of lamb for the freezer (I'm not going to say no!!) So, I have an inventory for the freezer that I'm sticking to, and have done the same for our storecupboard. I'm building a list for the supermarket tomorrow but am aiming to spend under a tenner.

I have noticed that prices have gone up a lot recently...we used to eat a lot of eggs but haven't had any in a couple of weeks due to the rising costs :(

I made chilli last night so have put some of that in the freezer, but that will be for Mr Fresian when I go away for work later in the month (A couple of trips already planned) I'm also going to make a load of bolognaise too. Dinner tonight is fish caught by my dad and defrosted today. Dinner will cost under £1 for the two of us as the fish was free, we'll finish the bag of £1 tatties we started earlier in the week and I only use value veg from the freezer at the moment :D

Nick - carry on posting/ doing the GC, please - I like your posts! :)

Slightly confused over what your height is - but 11 stone for anyadult male sounds fine - and 8 1/2 stone sounds ill and skeletal.

We're in Edinburgh and have some foody spends to add to signature. Staying in a fantastic apartment with fab facilities, secure parking, wifi, cable tv etc - for LESS than it would have cost us in a travelodge!! BArgain!

Will add spends later - must wake everyone up - things to do and places to go :D

Okay - FINALLY got caught up with posts! I wanted to read through what everyone has written before posting myself. I also need to start posting on the StoreCupboard Challenge - there just seems to have been so much going on at the moment!

First I'll start with the positives

I've only spent £4.20 in Mr S for shopping this week!. On Monday I went to a restaurant to be a 'mystery taster' for a restaurant that we're going to choose for a paid for Christmas lunch (we usually have a paid for Xmas party, but with the recession it's just a lunch now). It was LOVELY - I had Calamari for starters, Steak with chips, mixed salad and bearnaise sauce for main, and creme brulee for dessert. The 3 others in my party chose things different, but it's definately our Xmas party choice!!!

    Now the negatives

On Sunday I spent £9.50 on lunch on the pub - worth it though!

Today I spent nothing, because I needed to go to a promotional party for our company after work (I get the next morning off in lieu).

Personally I don't think that men are supposed to look 'too' skinny anyway!

I'm going to give it one more try next month - I know that it's a 'learning curve', but I'm overbudget..... I really don't like 'losing', and it's starting to become very disheartening for me! :(

  • Hello Everyone! Been mia due to major decorating of all downstairs rooms and hall and stairs.Had to do most of the decorating as OH got housemaids knee as soon as we started. Poor pet in agony and had a couple of days off work which is unheard of! Still better now but we are not risking him again. DS painted the ceilings for me thank goodness. Still not finished but chez gintot is a bit straighter at the moment. :jLost track of spends but have tried not to waste anything and have shopped frugally. Rubber gammon a great success this week!

    Can I have a limit of £375 for november Mrs M? :)

    Take care

which is where carrying a small notebook and pen comes in useful - you may not be able to note individual prices you've paid, but you can at least record how much you spent in which shop :)
