Adjust Watch Straps

Hi there

I have a few watches I need to reduce the size of the strap/bracelet part by a couple of links.

There seems to be a pin holding the links in place, is there a special tool you get to do this ?

I really don't want to have to pay a jeweler as they are cheap or free gift ones

I have used one of those mini screwdrivers that come in a box containing loads of different sizes normally sold in Poundland etc to take a link out of a watch as the watch shop wanted about £5 to do it
  • I Recently had to adjust a metal strap watch braclet for a relative, all you need is a pair of plyers and a narrow pointed object. As mentioned by slowen it looks like a screw driver but has a pointed end, if you look on the back of the links you might see an arrow, if not push the pin from the narrow end ( some are tappered). Remove the links and refit by pushing the pin back in from the correct side.
    Any problems leave a message.
  • check on Ebay. My brother got a little machine that does the job for you. Don't know what you would put on the search but it was only 1p & works brilliantly, better than paying money in a jewellers.

Does anyone know how to adjust those pins on the clip over type watch bracelet. There seem to be 4 or 5 settings for adjustment, but the pins look slightly different.
    Thanks

I used a sewing needle from a multipack needle set to adjust my strap and it works fine. Find the one with a bit of a blunt end to help you with it. Can't believe how easy it is to do and how much money I saved by doing 4 watches myself.
