Hi
I've been on fixed rate mortgage which is about to end, hence looking for new deal. I was just wondering what the general feeling about interest rates is, are more rises expected, and if so what rates are they likely to peak?
I know this is all crystal ball stuff and nobody knows for sure but I'd be greatful for anybodys thoughts.
Regardsnnnnn

My crystal ball says one more rise later this year, maybe one next year, but no more. If I were remortgaging now, I would go for a discount rather than a fix, because discount rates are more than 0.5% below fixed rates right now, so if my crystal ball is right, the discount will remain cheaper than the fixed rate.
My crystal ball has some cracks in it and is not always right.I have five stars! This doesn't mean that I know anything about any of the things I post. I could be a raving lunatic, or a brilliant genius, or just some guy on the internet. In fact, I could be all three at the same time.
If anything I say makes sense, then do it. If not, don't. Don't blame me or my stars if you do something stupid because I suggested it. I'm responsible for my own stupidity only. You are responsible for yours.
Why, I don't even have five stars anymore! Aren't you glad you aren't responsible for my stupidity?0 -
I would agree with DiggingOut.
All the predictions from economists and the bank of England show that rates will peak somewhere between 5.00 and 5.25%.
There are a few that reckon 4.75% and a few at 5.5%, but most say we are nearly there.
Personally I wouldn't go for a fix right now.
Obviously these are all predictions so you need to bear in mind that thet could turn out to be wrong especially if any unexpected happens like terrorist activity.0
