I’m going to apply for a loan with Northern Rock and I was just wondering if anyone knew the best way to apply, in store, on-line or by telephone?
Please note that I have a less than perfect credit history.

They do exist. I don't see how there would be a 'best' place to apply though - surely they all use the same lending criteria?0

Alliance & Leicester (known as Moneyback aswell) no problem here although the rate was slightly higher than the advertised 5.8% got it for 6.5% which we ere happy with as our credit rating is pretty naff cox of all the bank charges which I am going to get back from HSBC !!!

OH AND WE APPLIED ON LINE FOR BOTH OF THEM THROUGH MONEYSUPERMARKET.COM0 -

After knock back thought I would A & L as immediate decision but upon replying came back with will let you know thought well I'll try another one so went for the Moneyback (not realising they are the same company) anyway they came back with the same message - got a mail from Moneyback next day saying approved but paperwork all from A & L
I logged onto moneysupermarket.com and went into the loans part and all the links are there - hope this helps

I take it that you have quite a good credit rating i.e. that you have not missed a payment in the last six months (one of Monayback's requirements:mad: ).Lighbulb moment Mar 06  Total debt £26023.60 Apr 06  Total Debt Now £22714.87 Total Paid Off £3308.73(12.71%) Debt Free Date 2013_party_0 -
I applied for my NR loan yesterday. £11K over 3 years. Got the decision over the phone at the 5.7%, though they did try the high pressure sale of the PPI, which I didn't take.Dave. :wave:0

Please it would really help me if you posted whether you thought that you had a good credit rating or if you have missed payments in the last six or twelve months?Lighbulb moment Mar 06  Total debt £26023.60 Apr 06  Total Debt Now £22714.87 Total Paid Off £3308.73(12.71%) Debt Free Date 2013_party_0 -
