There's a banner on the PC World website advertising their own "Essentials" brand ink cartridges from £2.99.
All have free delivery, or you can reserve them online and pick them up in store if you want them a bit quicker.
There are lots of cartridges on the page across a lot of brands, but I've plucked out a few good prices to give you an idea of what's available.

Canon BCI-21/24
£3.99 inks
Epson T0801

HP 45
Canon CLI-8 BK/C/M/Y

There's loads more, but it'll take me forever to post them, so it's worth just looking to see if your inks are on there.

I should probably say, these are marked as "web exclusive" prices, so make sure you reserve them at your local store if you intend to pick them up. That way you'll get the website price, even if the store price is different.0

Just registered to say thanks. Picked up a couple of the black Epson compatibles at £2.99. I swear there's no difference between these and the official ones and these were a lot cheaper!

Thanks for this. Have managed to find the HP-363 inks cheaper on this than both Tesco and Ryman's (although could probably find cheaper if I bothered to look more), £18.78 for 2.
I reckon I must have the most expensive printer, ink wise. Note to self, must look for printer that accepts cheaper ink...It's wouldn't have not wouldn't of, shouldn't have not shouldn't of and couldn't have not couldn't of. Geddit?0 -

It seems like Epson printers tend to have some of the cheapest "compatible" cartridges. I have an R300 and a set of Epson originals for it cost £70. I managed to get a full set of compatibles for £10 including delivery!!
The prices some of these printer manufacturers want for their ink is criminal!
HP compatibles are often more expensive. Not sure why.
You could also look at Kodak printers. The official black inks are about £6 or £7 and they have lots of good reviews. The printer is more expensive up front though, so it's only really worth it if you print a lot.0 -
This is a fab deal - many thanks

Don't forget to go through a cashback site like Topcashback for extra savings.0 -
This is a great deal depending on which printer you have.
Make sure you check the PC World ink prices against the branded ink prices - I have an HP Photosmart printer and the HP brand ink is actually cheaper than the PC World equivalent.

This might not be the exact answer, but I had a few problems with my R300 too. At first it kept kicking out a "General Error" message on the screen and wouldn't print. Did something similar happen to you?
I had a turn the printer off and then back on while holding a series of buttons. The printer clicked and whirred for a while and then has been fine ever since. I'm not entirely sure what the process did (it wasn't clearing the print heads) but it worked!0 -

Never bought and never will buy any brand ink catridges.
£2.99 looks like a good deal but can be beaten easily by buying inkjet refill kits. I've got my kits from Asda, Tescos and PCWorld (which I think no longer sell them) and have saved loads of money by not buying branded (HP, Brother, EPSON, etc.) ink catridges.
You can also get inkject refill kits on ebay at http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=inkjet+refill+kits for £2-99 (including P&P).
Hope this helps.:)0 -
 Are you insane?? Why would you run a printer that is eating away at your money? It seems like Epson printers tend to have some of the cheapest "compatible" cartridges. I have an R300 and a set of Epson originals for it cost £70....
There is so much choice of printers out there with a lot cheaper cartridges but I am sure you know that
