Clubcard security... or lack of.

Phoned clubcard twice recently to change address as to where my statements, vouchers and key-fobs are sent, only a name and last address required.

No security questions, no password, not even a date of birth. I even asked them to cancel all previous vouchers and resend them all in the next statement (balance of £85)

Knowing a few people saving £100's in vouchers, doing the above and with knowledge of the cycle of their mailouts, it'd be pretty easy to steal a persons clubcard vouchers within 4 to 5 weeks, and the user would be none the wiser.

Perhaps tesco should review their policy.

So how is the 'other' person going to know your clubcard no, your name, and your first line of address. Before they are able to change it to their own, and if they do so - aren't they identifying themselves as to who they are and where they live! Why go to all that trouble when there may only be a voucher coming for £1.50 !!
But just to be on the safe side - don't carry your address in the same place as your clubcard e.g. ladies in your purse. Though, I think any thief would be more interested in finding a Nectar card, than a Tesco Clubcard.

Wise move, when you move - ring CC to update your details. 'Your' being the operative word, i.e. not your OH they'll have to do their own. But it is especially important if e.g. you are in the Xmas club and CC don't have your correct address - as at the 23rd October!!

It's part of security that CC need to talk to the card holder to chane their details or arrange a new card.

I didn't know my clubcard number, so they only asked for name/postcode.

Not difficult to send to a dodgy address.

So anyone to steal your vouchers (and many people even those with a clubcard don't realise you can't use your points only the vouchers), must know either your clubcard no, name and first line of address, or name and postcode.
If you've knicked the card, you may know the first two, but the next? And, I may know postcodes of people write to, certainly not strangers.

'Dodgy address'? You still need a postcode to set it up, wait maybe months for vouchers to come out, and then find it's only a couple of quid! Meantime, the real card holder calls about her card being stolen, verifies other details and hey presto there's a false address. In any risk v gain equation = not worth the trouble.

But, as I said before don't carry you CC with any address details.
