Excellent article in the Guardian:

A very 'green' and ethical (and actually moneysaving) article by the well-known environmentalist Sir Jonathon Porritt CBE.

The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.

Thoughtful article, Jo.
Looking around my own family and neighbourhood, I can't see many people trying to be self sufficient, digging gardens and so on.
Instead of veg and fruit, tis all grass or slabs, and the allotments are being sold orf for building.
If yer actual ordinary citizen doesn't give a toss, what hope is there.0 -
From the article:An average burger man (that is, not the outsize variety) emits the equivalent of 1.5 tonnes more CO2 every year than the standard vegan. By comparison, were you to trade in your conventional gas-guzzler for a state of the art Prius hybrid, your CO2 savings would amount to little more than one tonne per year.
This is incorrect. A Range Rover (a conventional gas-guzzler?) producing 350g/Km of CO2 and averaging around 12,000 miles a year produces 6.65 tonnes per year. A Toyota Prius at 105g/Km and the same mileage produces 2 tonnes per year.
Whilst there is some credible points with regards future problems due to climate change, the author of the article is promoting his new book and I can't help but wonder what other dramatic-sounding inaccuracies he's included that will maybe enhance book sales.0 -

No - thats an extreme gaz-guzzler.
An average one would be your typical 1.2 - 1.6 litre 4door family saloon.ॐ Signature Removed by Someones Mum. ॐ0
