Do you claim WTC? If you do and you worked 16 hrs or more a week, you may get help with childcare costs.

Otherwise, children over three get 12 1/2 hrs a week free nursery care via nursery vouchers.

https://www.entitledto.com is a benefits checker, put the details in and it will let you know, childcare costs are awarded in percentages up to 80% depending on income i think.

The Inland Revenue Tax credits site has a checker. I must work out how to do links! lol You can google it though. It will tell you if you may be able to claim childcare costs.

Btw, nurseries will give you the forms for childcare vouchers and every child over three years old is entitled to those. You can either find a nursery/playgroup for which the voucher will cover five mornings or afternoons (i.e. the sessions are free to you) or you can use a dearer nursery and the equivalent cost is deducted from the price you pay.
