Removal of Default from My Credit Rating

Hi Guys,
Hope you can help, as I am at I am in a very confused state! In my younger years I had a credit card which i used to the max which my bank cancelled (eventually!). Following some communication from them i repayed the balance (or what I thought was all) and thought no more of it. Now I am trying to apply for a first-time buyers mortgage with my partner (currently in last year of Uni) but was declined. At that point, to my knowledge, my credit rating was good, but upon further investigation the credit card was marked as default with an outstanding balance of £74. After many conversations with the Bank, with them having no knowledge of who I was as the account was that far out of date, we found the account, paid the balance and was informed that the defualt would be removed as the balance has been paid. HOWEVER the Default has not been removed, and the bank are now playing hardball as they are saying that they have not got to provide any details of the original Default notification (which i did not recieve) as they say that the account is not active (consumer credit act or something...) and that the default will remain registered until Jan 2012
:(:(.
Can they do this??? Or is there another line of attack I can take with them (Financial Ombudsman?)
Hope somebody can help me, as this is really getting me down and meaning that we cannot move on!
Thanks,
Danny

I doubt you'll have the default removed, in fact, I very doubt it. Sounds like you defaulted and the acted within their rights.
The best you'll get is having it marked as satisfied but even then, you'll have trouble getting decent credit until it drops off.
Look at it as a lesson learned and you could always save a bigger deposit until it does go away."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -
The account has been marked as satisfied, at the point the oustanding balance was paid, however I am trying to argue the point that I was notified of the Default. If I was aware of the original plans to default then I would have paid up0

it will be upto you to prove, but been honest you paid very late so not much chance of removal0

Hi All looking for some Help and advice
I had a ridiculous situation which has landed me with a default on my credit file.
It a long story but the ins and outs are is i had a contract with T-Mobile. It was for 24 months and i paid all the way till the contact ended in November 2010 i notified T-Mobile i did not want to renew and naturally i thought that was the end of it.
In Feb 2012 i logged on to Credit Expert to have a check of my Credit report and i was shocked to find a default on my T-Mobile account almost and year and 4 months after the contract had ended. I contacted T-Mobile that day ,who said there was and outstanding balance of £30.29 on the account.
In the 1 year and 4 months since the contract had ended i had no overabundance what so ever from T-Mobile whether it be by Phone, Letter or Email. I was then told by the call handler that the issue had been passed to Moorcroft Debt recovery to deal with and i had to speak to them to deal with the problem.
I contacted Moorcroft and they said they have no records of this issue ever being passed to them and they had no idea what i was talking about which again would be why i had overabundance from them either.
I called T-Mobile back and wanted to get to the bottom of this so i had to pay the outstanding balance of the alleged £29.03 before they would look into the problem i was then just told to write in and ask for it to be removed.
I did this and sent all the supporting Documents i had, Last Bill Payment, Letter from Morrcroft confiming they had no knowledge of it and all i got was a leter back saying we looked in to it and they wont be removing it, I wrote back and asked for a copy of their investigation into the situation and they said only they are privy to these documents.
Now every time i call or write i either get stone walled on the phone and told there is no one to speak to and i will have to write and when i write i get no response.
Can anyone advise me on what i should do about this.
Thanks
