Odd Phone Call

Just had a weird phonecall of some Scottish guy who was quite shadey with the information he was willing to give. He ask for me by name and said he was phoning on behalf of Barclays but his telephone manner wasnt very professional to say the least.
So after googling his phone number and doing a little research on-line it seems to be from Wescott debt collecters on behalf of Barclays none of what he would say on the phone. It seems like he just wanted to find out if I lived at this address. I dont have any Barclays debt now (credit card or bank) but i have a default of 3 years ago for £117 or something. Is this there first contact to reclaim this 3 years later ??
Barclays could have rang and I would pay it on my next payday. Just seems a weird way to go about a old debt. Has anyone else had this sort of phone call ??
