Cheap MOT /car servicing In Dundee

Any ideas from anyone- used to go to main dealers, but prices are now ridiculous. Anyone know a reliable car service/MOT garage?

I use XM garage services- on Balunie Drive towards the Sainsbury's end.

Darren and his Dad Sandy used to have the garage within Michelin which is when I started going. They moved to the end of the road a couple of years ago.

They have always given me a fair price, and are handy so I don't bother going anywhere else. No frills or fancy courtesy cars.

They can only do 8 mot's a day because of the new computer system, so book in advance by at least a week or two!

A local cop (it's along the road from the traffic HQ) was in for car servicing last time I was there, so they must be reputable.:D

    Hiya,

Just thought i'd let you know i've used McAllan and Patterson on Strathmore Avenue quite a few times to get work done on my car and a bonus is he is usually open pretty late at night say to at least 8pm sometimes later.

Bob the mechanic is brilliant and is generally always busy and certainly won't rip you off. The only downside is the fact he can be really busy and like the other garage mentioned above you need to book in advance if possible. (Remember you can get your MOT done up to one month before the date due and if you take in your old certificate you can get ithe new one date stamped from the end of your old one at no extra cost).

I've also used Arnold Clark in Lochee (Bellfield Road ?) a few times since i got my car from there and they are pretty good too and offer a courtesy car service if required. You need to book this or if you just want a lift somewhere after dropping off your car they will kindly oblige and pick you up when your car is ready if you ask. Another plus here is that they will give you a phone and tell you when your car is ready. Bob on the other hand will give you an approximate time and you give him a call just to check. Again with Bob i usually just drop my car in, in the morning as early as possible and basically go back for it at night so there is no rush, unless of course i really need it, he is happy to oblige and try and fit you in. (He has dealt with a few repairs on my car at short notice.)

Both garages are about the same price for the MOT itself but Arnold Clark is dearer for its labour charges, but if you do decide to use them and need parts let me know as i have a 10% discount card for them which i'd gladly lend you.

Oh and Arnold will give your car a quick wash before you get it back which Bob's doesn't and Arnold will phone you when your next MOT / service is due which again Bob's won't (no fancy computer systems at Bobs).

Overall, great service from both of the above so take your pick.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi

I just had mail in last week from Peugeot on the Kingsway (nr swallow roundabout) they are doing an MOT and Service for £99. It doesnt matter that its not a Peugeot I suppose as it doenst say that in the letter. Thnk this is a pretty good deal though and maybe a main dealer stamp in your service book.

Hope you manage to find something

If that is Skinny Bob near the cirlce at the top of the Hilltown - He is the man.

I used to go to big dealerships etc until my OH recommended him.

Great guys cool for payments and honest.

    Hiya,

Yip that's the one, just off Strathmore Avenue, 1st Left after Lidl and then on the right hand side from there just past the old bike place ( can't remember the name of that though sorry). (If you know where the 5 ways circle or roundabout for your foreigners reading this is, in the Hilltown Strathmore Avenue is off that.)

and Yes a great guy, honest too which is rare in so many cases especially where us girlies are concerned.
  • Try your local Arnold Clark they were recently running an offer for MOT and 41 point service for £89
