Cirencester

Options
Hi everyone,

I am a soon-to-be uni student in Cirencester - went up for a reccy today and it seemed quite expensive (as expected, naturally)

Anyone got any recommendations for cheap-ish shops or places to go - particularly for food, as my local supermarkets are M&S Simply Food and Waitrose :rotfl:? Any must see/must do attractions?

I used to live near Cirencester and you're right, it is expensive! I'm guessing you're going to be a student at the Royal Agricultural College?

The big Tesco on the outskirts is probably the cheapest local place for food. For more general shopping, Swindon's probably the best place to go if you want to get things cheaper! Easy to get to by car, and there are buses. There's a massive Asda Walmart in North Swindon, and then you've got the Outlet centre and places like that. There are also some ethnic supermarkets in central Swindon, which are generally always cheap for basics like rice, spices etc. It's not really a cultural centre though lol.

Living in Wootton Bassett with Swindon as my nearest town... I prefer to go to Cirencester - It is much nicer!

    Yes :D

Should have said, I am not taking my car as there is no parking at my digs (although I will look into how much a permit for the long stay car park in the centre is)

According to multimap, the big tesco and lidl are about a 25 minute walk away, so if I cycle that should not be too bad...I hope??? Could always get it delivered :rotfl: I am not that bothered about the shops as I'm not a very good shopper, although cheap shops are handy when you suddenly realise you don't have a bra to go with the outfit you're planning on wearing!

  • You have to go to watch Swindon Town Play soon, and also cirencester college football team. Both are very good as I have experienced playing for both at a junior level :)

:wave: Thought I'd wave to a couple of neighbours too.

Edit - Sorry OP, I can't think of any advice for your shopping in Cirencester; however Cirencester is a lovely place to visit and take in a spot of lunch. Not too sure about the recommendation of watching Swindon Town FC. ;)
