Halloween for me is a big house party every year, everyone in full fancy dress (about 20 people) and we all spend about £10 - £25 each on costumes. Although we do sometimes swap costumes between ourselves and buy bits and pieces to alter old ones so we not turning up in same costume year after year.
Thats not to mention food and drink for guests ( although most bring their own with then ) and sweets for kids coming trick or treating - you should see their faces when we open door to them in fancy dress too lol.

I grew up in Canada where halloween is massive!!
So I alway's go all out when it comes to decorating the house, buying sweets for trick or treaters & organising our fancy dress outfits.
We live in a small village now & it's very popular, all the 3 pub's in the village run fancy dress competitions & provide kareoke / live band's so usually we invite all our friends round for drinks & a bite to eat & once all the little one's have been round we hit the pub's.
So in answer to your questions chloe, I would say I personally probably spend in the region of £200 (that's before going to the pub!!!)
Although I do think that it is over comercialised, for me it was a tradition I grew up with & really enjoy & so I just treat it as a day to have fun with friends.
