I am surprised that many graduates are capable of doing the job, these must be the cream who can actually string a sentence together and spell correctly.
  • we had a "masters graduate" where I worked. he could barely string a sentence together and knew nothing. how he got a gcse is beyond me.

my 10 grade a-c in the late 80's must be worth at least 20 A******************** now.

An example in Chester is MNBA, in the past they have taken graduates into call centre positions but if they show ability or desire they are soon moved on into other roles (I know one or two), so I suppose other companies may be using call the centre as an entry point.

Come to think of it...how do 80s style real O levels compare with todays GCSEs?
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..
  • Just imagine a whole call centre made up of media studies graduates - is it any wonder they keep relocating to Bangalore!!!

Call centres are increasingly becoming Contact Centres. The name change highlights a change in focus. Increasingly the staff are expected to have a wider range of capability, and multi-skilling is not uncommon.

The increasing use of graduates comes as no surprise.

I wouldn't be surprised to see growth in this sector as local government up and down the country look for ways to reduce cost by outsourcing departmental functions wholesale.
