Hi
Has anyone noticed any pickling onions on offer anywhere?
I want to make some now for Christmas. I saw some in Sainsburys yesterday but it was a tiny bag for £1.29! I doubt I'd have got more than half a jar from it!
Thanks in advance

Keep watching your local fruit and veg shops, they are usually cheaper.
Last year mine was selling a huge sack of them and a 5l container of pickling vinegar for a fiver.0 -
I already have my christmas ones in the cupboard but it will be good to know if anyone is doing them cheap as I will need to make some for next year soon.
Shame I dont have any fruit and veg shops near me though , only tesco, sainsburys and waitroseI’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Thanks to both for your replies!
Wow, Geordie Joe, that sounds like a fab deal... I am the same as Sarah.. no fruit and veg shops around here.
I'm sure I got a huge bag which made me two of the really large jars last year from Morrisons (and it was only two or three quid) but I didn't see them on my last visit!0 -
Somerfield are selling off their ready-pickled onions dirt cheap as they are old stock and will need to be replaced by Co op stock by October.Ellie

If you put them in the proper pickling jars they will last a year.
I use kilner jars and I make them a year in advance so this xmas I will be eating last years.
