I've just started a BSc(Hons) Physiotherapy degree, i currently have the NHS Bursary and a reduced rate Student Loan

Has anyone on here taken one out? or got any help and advice ??

My other half took one of these out loans out with Barclays for £12,500 to pay for her barrister's course. They quoted her a rate of 1% above the Bank of England's base rate. Payable over 5 years, this was about 3 years ago.

The loan went through without problem, but I there was a nasty little clause hidden in the small print.
As the intrest rates went up, the bank didn't increase the payments. We worked out that because of this the loan would run for an extra 2-3 months. Depending on your circumstances, I suppose this could be a good or bad thing.

Anyway a year in a relative offered to repay the loan and we pay her back without the intrest. Barclays didn't charge any early repayment fee.

I'd shop around for the loan as the banks are desperate to get hold of proffessional people. They offered us scary amounts of credit.
I suppose they think they will make loads of money from them.....
