Help needed - didnt realise I wasnt paying!

The title probably explains it - but I went BK in May 2008 and have been paying an IPA ... or thought I had been!
I got a phone call from my payroll department saying that Moonbeaver were going to take the payment direct from my wages. I said it was the first I had heard about this as I thought this only occurred if you had not been paying them the monthly amounts.
I asked my husband to check the standing order - and it turns out that the last payment I made to MB was on 1 November 2009!!!
According to websites I've read if you miss a payment they send you a letter within 3 days informing you, then if you miss a second payment they send another letter.
I have NOT recieved any letters informing me as I would had made the payment the same day I had recieved it.
My husband is now at the bank asking them just what on earth has gone on as we certainly did not cancel the standing order ourselves.
I KNOW it should had been noticed that the payment hadnt been going out by my husband (who feels really upset that he didnt) BUT why has it taken 9 months for them to get to this stage.
At no time have I recieved any information concerning missed payments and I have even in that time informed the OR that I'd had a couple of pay-rises!
To say I'm upset over this is an understatement as I'm now concerned that going from an IPA to an IPO will have some other detrimental affect on me - plus I now know instead of 12 months to go until my payments finish I've got another 21!
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps its taken them a few months to inform you,as they must be overloaded with cases. I pay mine by d.d. and would notice if my ipa hadnt gone out each month but mine is £200. When I became Br and had to get a coop account I know where every penny goes, whats gone in/gone out. But as the coop has a motto of 3 strikes and your out I am concerned this may happen that Im extra extra careful with my finances.
Not sure what the answer is for you though, perhaps best to ask Moonbeever? 9 months does seem a long time
Sorry cant be of more help

I don't think it's an IPO - you would have received a letter asking you to attend court if that has happened.
You need to check paperwork if payroll will let you have a copy, but it sounds like an Attachment of Earnings if it is being taken direct from wages.
But I would certainly ask them why it took this long to notice and why they did not make contact with you.0 -
Thanks for your replies.
My husband went to the bank to see what was going on - the Standing order that I'd been paying the payment via was still an active one - but for some reason the bank had not been sending the money to MB after November last year!
The bank were not sure why it hadnt been sent, but they were going to look into it (though I dare say they wont admit fault!)
I gave MB a call and explained the situation. They said they had sent 3 letters to me in January, May and June - NONE of which I had recieved - so am now wondering just what the postman was doing with our post!
Anyway - long story short, they said aslong as I get another Standing order set up for the 1st October they're happy for me to continue paying that way and just pay the months I've missed after what should effectively be the end date.
At least I'm ending the day a heck of a lot better than I started :j0 -
