ok, so here we go. Approximately a month ago i posted my woes my failures and short comings for all to see. I took on the chin the firm, fair but incredibly caring, advice support and at times square tellings off.
I hid myself for a night battered and bruised by the experience and had to make myself post again the next day.
I also ignored the site for a week and attempted to lapse back into ignorance but my guilty concience (and permanent MSE desk top icon) wouldn't allow me to forget....
now here i am, happier, less stressed, less tired and less poor (well very marginally but we all start somewhere!)
So here is my blog.... Just incase i lapse again i have a tool to kick my sorry !!! (it's a type of donkey before anyone complains!) and keep me on the road to DFWdom.
since my first post i have.....
1) Sold 6 books, 4 dvds and a fluffy cat on amazon
2) cut my overdraft by £50 prior to being paid yesterday
3) Cut back on absolutely everything i was advised to cut back on, gas has been lowered, payment hol from tv licence arranged, council tax spread over 12 months instead of ten.
4) Spoken and taken advice from CCCS, now administering all debts myself with the full backing of my creditors (no more paying £40 pm to DMP)
5) joined £2 coin savers club and saved/had donated £20!!
6) Have sold my ring for £175, worth more but never would have got it so happy with that.
7) quidco'd my little heart out, have a balance of £180. Now saving desperately for a stint in the priory for bl00d! good website addiction!
8) looked into the car situation but nowt i can do. hey atleast i tried!!
This website has given me so much to work on, so much to change and things have, for now improved. I am under no illusion that this road is a rocky one, and i have no doubt i'll stumble at some point. But Carpe Diem and all that. one day at a time.
If i can give back in anyway the experience and help i have encountered here then it'll make it all the more fulfilling. martin, you should be proud of yourself for what you have created.
See ya tomorrow y'all!!

Well done - good to see some positive news.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Hi hi Pania, well done. That's £50 in a month cleared off your total debt apart from your normal payments - excellent progress. Well done about reducing your gas and electric bills. I'm really sorry that we couldn't help you to get your car fixed for nothing, but there you are, you tried!
Is the next step to get someone in to house share with you to reduce your rent, as we discussed before? Even if you did a short term arrangement with someone, you could have half your rent for six months going towards your debts.
Please do take a look at the snowball calculators and see when your debt free date is. Also experiment with putting another £200 a month on it and see what it does to the date....you might decide to get that lodger!!!

Good for you Pania.
Its the first step on a long road but looks as if you've gone through the gate and are on your way:beer:0 -
hey guys thanks for all the replies. and cheers cfc for the helpful hint on the lodger! Update on that one, biyf and i are going to move away and rent together, Half rent, half bills etc Yay!!!! will make a big difference to my repayments, so that debt may come down quicker!!
My ring was sold to a jeweller on the Isle of Sheppey, where i used to work. All the others tried fobbing me off by saying it was rubbish when it was nowt of the sort! he knew a fellow dealer who bought it off me. Let me know and i'll give you his contact number via pm if you like.
Re the TV Licence, I couldn't believe i was paying so much in advance. I stopped making the payments and they wrote to me to say that was fine but i had to set the agreement up again in jan, Just a little break from it but will do me for now!!
Can anyone tell me where to find the smowball calculator?
Thanks again for all your responses, is keeping me going and yes, i am just a little proud of the progress but as i said it's a long long way to go!!
Lots of hugs to all and happy money saving!!
