Get a welfare rights officer too, DLA claims are far more successful if you've got someone who knows what they're doing helping you fill them in. For instance, as far as the DLA people are concerned, 'severe discomfort' is worse than 'severe pain', but how many of the rest of us would think that and put it in the forms? Also having a representative at an appeal increases the chances of winning. Try DIAL or look in your local phone book for disability organisations.

I can imagine how you feel. And my elder ds, only is allergic to milk and egg. To be allergic to soya as well must be a complete night mare. One thing though, is she being regularly tested, to see if she is still allergic. My son is getting less allergic to egg now, and we hope that he will be ok with egg in the next couple of years.
I know that it is a bit off topic, but if she had grown out of even the soya allergy then this would help massively on the food front.
Can I also suggest that you post a thread for meals on the Old Style board. You never know there may be some great recipes that people can think up, that would be cheaper, than your usual meals. I would also go back to the doctor and ask if the amount you can have on prescription can increase now your daughter is older. I think only allowing for two loafs a month is a bit much, also the £2 /litre for rice milk, is that not covered? If it was prescribed, even if you paid full whack for the presciption, but he put down 5 litres per presciption, then this would save you some money.
Best of luck with the other stuff.

I never posted anything on here to gain sympathy from anyone, only suggestions of a helpful nature. Have you never read the poem about smiles being contagous, maybe you should (no offence intended, just a life choice perhaps). If you cant be supportive or helpful of people that are struggling in their life for what ever reason their is no need to comment .
I do not blame my kids for my debt, I love them dearly and do not give them what they wish for as this appears to be your assumption. I do however have to feed and clothe them etc.
As far as food goes their are ways of spending less if you have the capital to by 6 months at a time (and storage space) but for some their is always a creditor to pay which I give priority to. I have recently found some little indian shops which sell bulk bags at a fraction of the cost of a supermarket, so this should help. I took on an allotment last month so this should reduce our veg bill esp for next summer etc as they say every little helps.
We have tried to get milk on prescription but rice milk is all she can tollerate and its the only form of milk not available (not counting the oat and nut based milks). But yes I shall get intouch with a local group about the DLA.
Thankyou to those with useful comments.0 -
After reading the replies, some of which I would say weren't needed, I would like to say good luck to you whatever you decide to do.
I was in debt through life but several years ago my husband died, he was only a young man, and because of death in service etc I was put in a different position - to scared to spend the money I have, still haven't touched it, and have my own cc debt.
I have since met a man with awful debt problems due to failed businesses, an awful ex wife etc. I have encouraged him to go bankrupt because I feel that at his age etc he needs to be able to live again. Have a new life as you never know what will be around that next corner.(he is still plodding thru the paperwork, any day he shall be on his way)
When my husband died, I was only in my early thirties, sitting back and watching life it hit me that this world is run by sex and money. I have a teenage son who now at his age is under pressure to shop in the right places, wear the right gear etc.
For the person who said it is not moral to go bankrupt all I would like to say is life is to short, we all try our best and if these companies are so happy to bombard us with applications to take the money then they have to be happy when life takes over and the money runs dry.
My new man has a son who is only a few months away from being 18, how many applications for credit cards are going to be heading his way, too many.
So good luck with your dilema, and I look forward to reading any updates you put on here.

Once again it shows the people who have the most reason to be angry with the world are often the first to be there with kindness and compassion.:A
