Is this debt thing a disease???

    Ouch @ that car finance!

I would clear that catalogue debt, then lock up the catalogues! Buy now pay later is the last thing you need when you're already paying other stuff off IMO. It might not be this way for you, but its a budgetting nightmare for me and I usually make the later a bit too late, and end up paying interest :(

If you must have a 360, why not get a Core system pre-owned, then save up a bit more for a hard drive later. I survived several months without the hard drive, only getting one when there was a game on Live arcade I desperately wanted, and didn't have space for on the memory card.

If you get one pre-owned you are probably looking at 120 quid now for the console+controller and memory card. Some of the games are down to 15 quid pre-owned (although a lot of them are more expensive) then 70 quid for a hard drive later down the line. Works out essentially the same cost, but its easier to spread out.

Why not go for the upgraded license, then if you pass first time blow the rest celebrating? If you don't pass, then invest the rest in trying again? Or would that be too much pressure, instead of an incentive?
Thanks for the advice regarding the 360, I will look round now for something second hand or try to see if it will go down in Jan and get one new. It is just the waiting bit, I want to get on "live" and play some footy but it's killing me waiting :D

no offence mate, but if I was your GF and you bought a playstation instead of paying me back what you owed me, by god, Id make you suffer. I think you should pay her back :p
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

  • When I can't decide I split the money in half. The first lot goes off the bills and the the second is mine to do with as I please. If it's not enough I bank it until I can afford the treat I want.

I'd still pay back any family/friends before buying an XBox 360. Your g/f may not need the money, but it's the principle. And what about the money owing to your Dad? What would he think of you buying the XBox with money owed to him?

Just a thought. I know I'd love an XBox too, but I just can't afford one. The debts have to come first. Once my debts are cleared *then* I can save for a better car and a holiday.

give it to her when you've got it... in MY mind means 'as soon as you have it.' otherwise you risk building up all kinds of resentment.

Maybe it's a girl thing, but I'd go BALLISTIC!!!!!!
