remortgage - partner does not work

I currently have a Leeds BS Fixed Rate mortgage which ends on 1 November so am looking around to see what the cost will be for a new fixed mortgage.

The current mortgage is in my and my partners' name and the deeds of the house is in both names.

I work with a good salary but my partner does not currently work (house person). I noted that this can reduce the amount lenders are willing to lend.

Is it therefore possible for the new mortgage just to be in my name but still have the house / deeds in both names?

No need to do that - it can still be in joint names, it would just be your income taken into account.

I thought that but when I did a quick calculation of what would be lend. Based on 1 person with my income I got 'X' and then when did the same with 2 people with my income only I got 'Y' which was about £20K lower

What is your gross income and how much do you need to borrow?

Looks absolutely fine, I doubt you'll have problems with any lender (unless you have huge outgoings on credit commitments)

Only debt I have is £10,000 with a credit card company of which I pay circa £105.00 per month
  • Any suggestions on if I should apply as a single account holder or dual account holder?
