Platinum Wedding Rings

We've decided (or more honestly, my H2B has) that we're both having platinum wedding rings, which is proving to be rather expensive, the cheapest I've come across (by a long mile) is at argos (http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Browse/ID72/14417005/c_1/1|category_root|Jewellery+and+watches|14416987/c_2/2|14416987|Rings|14416988/c_3/3|cat_14416988|Wedding+rings|14417005/r_001/5|Material|Platinum|1.htm) which is rather classy ;). Any way, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of information on the rings, so my question is - platinum is the same everywhere isn't it? Or does it come in different purities and, in fact, these are more made of some sort of alloy rather than 'platinum'. What do you think?
