wedding venue in administration

Options
My fiance and I took a long time in deciding on the perfect venue for our wedding reception. We got a date held and just before we were due to pay the deposit we were informed that the hotels holding company, and sister hotels are been managed by administrators. Does anyone know if we can still take wedding insurance before laying down a deposit, and if we would be covered for our deposits? or anything? Also would our money's be legally ring fenced so it is not used to pay off debts? We intend to contact the administrator to discuss, so any advice would be welcome asap.
thanks

  • As you're already aware of the facts, I am fairly certain that no wedding insurance would pay out if there was a problem.

To be honest, if the place is in administration then I wouldn't touch it with a bargepole, because you have no certainty about its' future.

Huge shame if it was a venue you love, but if I were you I would be looking elsewhere or sitting this one out to see what happens before making any commitments to it.
  • im with pp, id definitly hang on before paying any money until you know for sure they will be taken on by a new buyer you can then pay them and get insurance as normal
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p
  • I agree with the others - I would not be risking it! It seems a bit too risky for me!

I agree with everyone else - wouldn't touch it with a bargepole! And I am sure an insurance company wouldn't pay out if you already knew there was an issue.

Keep looking for other venues - the perfect one is out there!

Have to agree with the others - common sense should surely tell you to find another venue.

Wedding insurance won't cover if they are in administration or in holding before the policy is taken out. I am with everyone else, would definitely choose another venue. Even if they continue trading you have no guarantee that the level of service or quality will be the same.
Thanks for the advice Martin! :money:

  • if it is aston hall, the company i work for is now running these while they are in administration. From what i've been told/heard, all weddings are still going ahead as planned.

  • mY venue went into administration after we had paid a deposit and we had to find another venue and are on the creditor list to get our deposit back which will be alot less. I would not have put a deposit down had i known this because after speaking to the administrators, it appears that they are trying to sell it as a going concern and they get given a budget for weddings. MAkes me suspicious about standards of food and will I get what I paid for?. Still not sold after almost a year so glad I booked elsewhere.x
