my husband left me 8 months ago and is paying nothing to our debt or mortgage!
he is going bankrupt
my question is should i fight for my house or go home and go bankrupt??
My outgoings are 1715 a month inc everything but not paying anything to th £46K debt i have
i have 1 lodger could look for another but have no work as keep getting bad depression!!
Could look for work straight away!
Just feel if i go home i am giving up and going 2 step backwards!!
not sure what to do for best!
Have been to court for mortage they have agreed to let me keep it if i make full payments the first one i can make!
also how do i go about getting my ex off the mortgage
thanks caz

Hi
Are you getting in the process of getting divorced or just seperated at the moment. Before you agree to take on paying the mortgage yourself you need to consider the legal situation, which is often dealt with in a divorce settlement. Does the house have any equity or are you in negative equity at the moment? If it is jointly owned and has equity in it and he goes bankrupt then you would be at a risk of losing it if you cannot buy out his equity.
Its hard to advise on what is the best option for you without knowing more about your finances and situation. If you aren't working currently I would guess you will struggle to even meet your iving costs even without the debt repayments.
You could seek some advice from one of the debt charities for some more professional advice, CAB might be best as they may be able to advise more in relation to your seperation etc as well as just the debts/mortgage.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
