In the end I complained and got my money back.
Don't recommend them...
You win and lose I think- Its something to do with the power suplly unit - I believe they put in a 2amp PSU that caused the boxes to lock up, however I got one which had the 3amp PSU and that to date not failed on me - nor had anything deleated from the menus
(Don't use the compression as subtitles recorded can not be compressed)

I agree it is daft, I don't know if other machines handle this better by letting you lock recordings.EvilMonkey wrote:One last thing, is there no way with these to take recordings off onto DVD for long term storage?
On the Matsui you have to play it back and use a DVD Recorder connected to the other scart socket to record it in real time (ie. 1 hour programme takes 1 hour to burn onto DVD).
Some of the other (more expensive) twin tuner PVRs have USB to connect to computers so you can pull the stuff off and burn to DVD via a PC which is quicker as it is not done in real time.
You can also get Hard drive recorders with a single Freeview tuner and DVD-Recorder combined which may be better if you want to do alot of DVD writing but these cost around £300 I think.0 -
