Advice on claiming Pension Credit

Hi, I'm new to this site and it's the first ever thread I have posted so please be patient with me. My problem is that my mum who is 76 sold her home in the UK, and bought a house abroad last year thinking all would be sunshine and flowers but unfortunately it was not. Anyway to cut a long story short one year later she is now back in the UK living with me and my family and her home is up for sale. She has no savings or any other income apart from her state pension, and someone mentioned claiming pension credit. My question is would she be able to do this whilst still having a place abroad even though she is not living there? She eventually would like, upon sale of her home abroad to buy another home in the UK. By the way the sale of her home in the UK, and purchase of her home left her with very little capital. Infact she will be lucky to buy a property here without us putting to. Hope someone can advise.

if the property abroad is not up for sale, then the property value would be taken into account as capital. If the property is up for sale then it could be disregard for up to six months, she would have to show that she is taking steps to sell it for that to happen, if it sold how it would be treated would depend on whether she was buying another property or not.
