Hi All !!
I am thinking of setting up a selling site on ebay.
I was just wondering if anyone has tips for selling on ebay.
I am going to be selling makeup products.
Does it cost to sell ?
Thanks,
Marshmallowbliss Xx

Hi there!!
Selling on ebay can be quite profitable but you do need to bear in mind the listing fees, Final Value fees, and Paypal fees.
I did a lot of selling on ebay but ended up at a loss on a few items.
On some catergories ebay put a limit on the P&P you can charge....Books for example had a limit of £2.75, I sold a book for 0.99 (free listing start price) it had a final value fee of 10p I think, then paypal had around 10p. but it was a heavy book and cost £4.00 to post so I made a clear loss there.
You just need to really take on board their fee structure, look at limitations on catergories, remember about your packaging costs too, then the paypal fee, and charge the right amount of P&P (you can include your packaging costs within this).
Im not meaning to put you off, as I have said it can be profitable, just research first.....Good LuckLook atfer the Pennies and the ££££'s will care for themselves :money:0 -
Iv sold and bought a few things in the past and is more or less straight forward.
If your selling there will be an insertion fee if above .99p. Then there is the fee ebay take on selling a item. Then if you opperate a paypal account they take their bit as well. i found Paypal are good if you have trouble with people
Best thing to do is make a cuppa and go through their tems and conditions, then the same with paypal
Anyway Good luck0 -
If you are selling as a business then you get no free listings at all, so yes you pay to list even if your item doesn't sell.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Dunno if it helps but
Ebay listing fees are here (private listing and shop listing are differnt prices)
http://pages.ebay.co.uk/help/sell/fees.html
Final Value fees are on there also. But I think it is normally 9.9% or 10%BIN
Paypal Fees depand on your account but 1.4% to 3.4% + £0.20 GBP. That is 1.4% to 3.4% of final sale (sale and postage)
Thats why it is often silly selling items on ebay that only sell for 0.99. After you take off at least 20p paypal, and 10p final value fee.
Your only left with 70p.Current Debt (8th March) = [STRIKE]£940 £910 725 104[/STRIKE] + £290
Debt free within 3 weeks. Thanks up your income forum.0 -

You may hit a snag then as MAC are one company controlled on ebay. You'll be very limited in the amount you can sell, and you need to factor in miniscule sales against all the fees plus of course tax and National Insurance.
Have you actually watched the completed listings on ebay to see how much they tend to sell for? If so does that end price, working back through fees etc mean a large profit on the price you have managed to source the stock at?
Lastly, are you 100% sure your stock is genuine as so much is fake that ebay tend to expect their selelrs of such items to be able to prove the items are authentic and you'll need some sort of audit trail back to the company .I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
