Surprise to find a ccj

Can anyone help me out here, if you have recevied a ccj doesn't it get recorded and held on file for 6/7 years with credit agencies??? I thought so...

So today when I get told by Next I am not able to order on my credit account I go and search both equifax and experian only to dig deep and find out that a settled debt (from 2007) has been recorded on my file as a defult and partial payment. I scower the internet to find the company named, I call them and they explain that they bought my debt as it was an unsettled ccj but has since been closed as marked fully settled as they were advised that it had in fact been paid.... I then phone Northampton County Court to find out that I do have a ccj against my name (but neither experian or equifax show it) from a !!!!! company that I bought a car from but settled the debt in full before the date of the ccj.........
Now my issue is that the solicitors who delt with it back in 2007 has closed all cases for this company and no longer deal with them and the company they were working for ceased trading in 2008... what can I do...

I plan to apply for the cancelation and the removal of the ccj and have been advised that if no body attends court from their end then I stand a good chance of being successful, but would be even more so if I could get a letter stating that it had been paid in full...

What can I do, no one will give me one and as it goes back to 2006/7 I have no record of payment etc....

I really need this ccj removed as I am working hard to build a credit score after living off my ex for so long!!!!!!!
