Brokers - Not feeling confident

It's all very well to say London and Country are fab and I'm sure they are fab if only I could actually get to speak to my broker!:(
Been trying 2 hours now...constant voicemail...spoken to 'the girl' who would 'pass on my details'....I'm not feeling confident now about dealing with them.
I haven't engaged them yet, only spoken initially to the broker. But now beginning to think this is a portent of things to come...should I just approach the Lenders directly as a FTB?
We did want a broker as felt they were experienced in the whole business, but now feeling a bit wary...

You should have used a local broker then. The problem with larger companies is that they suffer higher staff turnover and its run more like a factory line.
L&C have a good reputation as a well run company but what you say has been said by others that have used them.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Unless you have a really good idea of the mortgage market it would be advisable to see a broker rather than go direct.
Why not try a smaller broker? You will more than likely receive a much more personal service than you would with a huge brokerage.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. It sounds like you need the help of a smaller broker, one that will be able to get back to you a lot more quickly, and give the "hand holding" a FTB tends to need.

God, as much as I'm not L&C's biggest fan, two hours is not a long time. Have you considered that they could be busy and have do appointments with other people as well? They aren't your broker exclusively. A typical mortgage application and associated preparation / post app work used to take me two hours. That was working for the lender where there was only one product range to consider.
If you were sat with your broker, discussing your mortgage needs, would you expect him to keep cutting you off so that he could take calls from other potential clients?
The client / broker relationship works both ways.0 -
