Still paying back on house repossessed over 14 years ago

Had a mortgage with my now ex-husband. I initially staying in the property when he left and explained to the mortgage company - Mortgage Express, the circumstances. They were always very unhelpful, but the mortage was paid by benefit for around 18 months.
I then met someone new and moved out. My ex-husband moved back in. However, he got behind with the mortage payments very quickly. The house was eventually repossessed. Ex-husband went bankrupt. Mortage Express then chased me for the payments and I have been paying ever since.
In all the years I have been paying, I have never received statements or any kind of paperwork advising of the still outstanding shortfall, except for 6 years ago when a debt collector came to visit advising I should make affordable payments every month. He was unaware I had been making payments and was disgusted with the mortgage company for not advising him of the true circumstances. He also made sure they sent me some paperwork showing payments made and debt outstanding etc.
I periodically fill out budget forms and return them. I am currently paying £50 per month. However, nearly 6 years since the debt collector visited, I have received nothing from Mortgage Express (now owned by another company), except budget forms. No more statements. Surely this isn't right? I am currently unemployed after a recent redundancy and a single parent with 3 living at home. Just feel I will never come to the end of this particular road.
Can anyone please offer any advice? Have been to CAB in the past but they weren't very helpful.

Put a letter in writting and send it registerd post asking for the documentation that you require.
Or have you already done this?0 -
Mortgage shortfall debts are usually collected by Solicitors. You need to ring them and also make sure they are obtaining payments from your ex husband - they may not know his whereabouts so you could make them aware of this. You need to complete an income and expenditure form and they will go to the lender and recommend a payment arrangement.0

Are the £50 monthly payments making an impression on the debt balance?0 -

The ex went bankrupt so is clear of the debt.
What arrangement did you make early on?
how much was the debt for ?
did you get the interest frozen at the time?
One way to get there attention might be to stop paying.0 -
No arrangements made. Nothing ever sorted by solicitor at time of divorce either.
Debit was for £32,500 - all interest frozen
Paperwork I had 6 years ago only showed what had been paid prior to my making any payments after I left the property.
Surely, they have a duty to provide annual statements? Every other company seems to.
Also, do I legally have to give them my bank statements (in addition to the budget forms?)
Thank you to everyone who has responded0 -
