Sick Pay

My father is going to be off work for six weeks following an operation. Will he only get statutory sick pay? He has worked at his company for seven years and someone has said that if you have worked at a company for a certain amount of time, they have to pay you at your basic rate for a certain amount of time.

Is this true and would he qualify? How long would he be entitled to this?

He needs to check his contract. There is no legal right to anything more than SSP, but his contract may entitle him to a period of time at his usual pay rate.
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Yep as dmg24 says, it all depends on what his lastest agreed contract says. After all....he would have agreed terms.
