Trying to find a Monks' bench

Options
Would really like one of these for my hall but am having trouble tracking one down. Internet really expensive when you take into account delivery to NI. Anyone know where I could find one - doesn't have to be new. Thanks

I bought one has year so I know how pricey they are. If is doesn't have to be brand new then I always have a look on gumtree.com and search areas near you so you can collect it yourself. They have some listed on there at the moment around £60-£100 ish

Seen these in a couple of places recently. CFC furniture at Abbeycentre and also the furniture place in a unit inside the main Abbeycentre complex itself. Also try S&L furniture on the Castlereagh Road.

As suggested do a search on Gumtree. There are a few on there. Try contacting them even if the ad is old as they may not have sold.

Some great ideas there - many thanks. :T I hadn't thought of Gumtree but I have added a request to my local Freecycle. Will follow up and post back if I'm successful anywhere. In the meantime, would welcome any more ideas.

Found one straight away on Gumtree. I've never used it before so can someone tell me - is it ok to haggle? They have offered delivery so not sure what is reasonable - its about 50 miles away.

Defintely okay to haggle, especially if its be advertised for a while. Most people just want rid of something when they advertise it.

Now I want one and I don't even know what a "Monks Bench " is! Imagining it's along chest for storage?

LOL :rotfl:The best way I can describe it is seating with storage - usually a wooden bench and sometimes with an ornate back, though this isn't that important to me. I'm just looking for somewhere for the kids to put their schoolbags and related stuff so that it's not always lying at my front door! Thanks for the tip on haggling - I'm not that good at it I must confess but I'll have a go in true MSE spirit....
