Little Bit of Work Needing Done

I was just wondering what everyone else would do in this situation:

My partner and I have just bought a house in the Newtownabbey area and are fixing it up a bit before we move in. There is a little bit of plastering and joinery work to be done. Neither of us have done anything like this before, but honestly it's not a lot. Should we try to do the work ourselves. I would like someone more experienced to do it as the work is around new windows that have been put in, but as there is so little to be done I don't know if anyone would take on such a small job. Any advice?

The first time I plastered, it was the ceilings downstairs. They're not perfect, but they're smooth enough, and you do get better with time.
By all means, if you're game for it, give it a shot yourself, just be careful of the type of plaster you're using, and how you apply it.
My partner and I would try most jobs in the house, and while there's skill levels involved, practise first- find an old board and have a practise attempt.
