My apologies if this is the wrong forum for this. I inadvertently chucked away the measuring cup thingy on my Kenwood RC310 rice-cooker when I was refurbishing my kitchen. I know how much water to add because it's marked on the inside of the bowl. Unfortunately I don't know how much rice to add per person. If anyone has one of these, please could you let me know? I know that a new rice-cooker is only £10 these days but it seems silly to throw away a perfectly good machine. Thanks for any help you can offer.

HI evening
I wonder - was it a standard cup size? i checked their website and can't see the instructions
If so, cup measures should help
Will wait and see if anyone else has one who can help, and merge this later
ZipA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Zip
Thanks but no, I tried that. It may be half-a-cup or a quarter but it definitely isn't a whole cup per person.0 -
Just to clarify - i mean cups like these , not a normal cup......!
Do you happen to have the instructions?!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

Yeah, I tried one of those cups. I also tried emailing Kenwood (no reply). I had chucked my instructions too, but I found them online but they don't say what the quantities are! They just say "use the marks on the side of the cup", but don't say what the marks represent. My next step is to experiment with fractions of a cup - this request is just a quick try to shortcut the process! Thanks for your help.0

If it's any help you can buy spares from here:
www. 4kenwood.co.uk/cgi-bin/catalogue.pl?section=72623&path=72620
or here:
www. partmaster.co.uk/cgi-bin/catalogue.pl?section=72623&path=72620&shop=kenwood
Though I think the seller is the same via both URLs (note I have added a space after "www.")..0 -
They're not standard cup measures, but I believe all rice cooker cups are the same size, which is 160ml. That's what mine is (although it's not a Kenwood).
If in doubt, I once read that you should put in however much rice you want to use, then put your index finger so the tip of it is touching the rice and put in water so it comes up to the first knuckle on your finger. Does that make sense? That's what I always do anyway, I never bother with the cup measure at all, and the rice always comes out perfect.0 -
You could ring kenwood and ask whether they would replace your cup. They may do this for free or in charge you a small amount for it. If you don't want to pay ask what the measurement is. Personally I have never used a rice cooker. I do one cup of rice to two cups of boiled water / stock. Bring to the boil, lid on then the lowest simmer setting on my hob for ten minutes. Leave lid on until end of cooking. The only variant is for for brown rice which takes a bit longer and a bit more liquid than this.0

160mls sounds about right - my Zojirushi rice cooker rice cup is 180ml. It works out just shy of 5oz. basmati rice.0 -
Bizarrely, I have just taken my rice cooker out of the cupboard after seven years or so because I did the exact same thing back then - threw away the cup by accident.
Looking through the bit of the instructions about steaming vegetables I notice it says 'one cup' of water is 150ml. Which would correspond pretty closely to the other suggestions here.
Wish I'd noticed that seven years ago.0 -

That is how my SIL taught me how to do it, she is Thai and cooks lots of rice. If I have rice leftover, I cool quickly and freeze for another day.
