Spreadsheets?

Hi all

I see that a lot of you have spreadsheets on the go for christmas/birthdays etc.......Id like to get one on the go myself but after a few attempts it appears Im not that good at excel, or Im just not creative enough to think how to lay it out. Do you use templates or make it up yourself?

Thanks

I've just come on to ask a simliar question!

After reading a few posts about it, I was thinking something along the lines of names across the top and down the side:

    Gift
    Price paid
    RRP
    Gift
    Price Paid
    RRP
    etc

Then underneath a sum of price paid and a sum of RRP. I also read that a couple of people use red or green coloured text to indicate if it was bought/order received yet etc.

Does this sound about right? I too am not fab at making up my own excel spreadsheets but can't think of another way to do it!

Thanks in advance for any sugestions :)

    No!

Names down the side and a list of the things that you want to record along the top. Add in the birthday date as well....
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • Does anyone have a template :o

  • You don't need a template

    Open excel.

    in A1 - type 'name'
Then in A2 type a name
continue writing names in each cell in the column A

    In B1 - type 'date'

Then type the corresponding birthdays in the rows so that each person's date is alongside their name

then type in C1 the next thing that you want to record

    Ditto D1 etc

And fill in the spaces as you see fit.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

There is no right or wrong way to lay it out, whatever works best for you. Last year I had names along the top and the things I had bought in columns

    Jane Bob Pete
    Chocolate £2.99 Spade £3.50 Book £1.99
    Book £1.00 Book £0.00

And this year I reorientated it like this

Name Item Amount Item Amount Item Amount Notes
    Jane Chocolate £2.99 Book £1.00
    Bob Spade £3.50
    Pete

Then added up the columns and rows

Sorry but it seems to be getting rid of the spaces I used to show the layout :(
It's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission ;)

Thank you for your suggestions. I know in my head what I want to do, it's just a case of transferring it from my head onto excel! I shall crack on with getting mine sorted today :)

  • Mine last year had names down the sides and along the top had columns for ideas, bought gifts, Made gifts (coloured green for done, orange for ordered/making, red for havent started or looked into yet..) then i had a column for estimated cost, a column for actual cost and one last one at the end which just said "Wrapped?"

Excel is quite easy once you get into it, and to be honest though you could get a template (i mean i could even do one up if you really wanted) its always easier to do it yourself as then you know where everything is and it makes sense to you. Mine for instance adds up the totals as i go along at the bottom of the page so i know how im doing with my budgeting this also lets me see that if ive saved £3 on my sisters gift then i can spend that on my dad and get him something he would really like...(not that i ever have a clue what on earth he would really like)

Have a play hun :) and if in doubt just come ask on here! xo
