I'm just wanting a bit of advice please could someone be kind enough to tell me how long the Halifax normally take to send statements when claiming back bank charges. They cashed my check last week and it would be nice to get my money back before christmas.
Thanks

Just wanted to wish you good luck. Barclays took around two months, so hopefully Halifax should pay up in time.Barclaycard 3800

I am claiming through Halifax - they cashed the cheque and then took about 2 weeks before the statements turned up.
I sent my letter before action on Tuesday, got offered £200 as a gesture of goodwill yesterday - claiming £2000 so you can guess what my answer was!Debt free date - June 2008 :T :T :T0 -
Hey Janine,
I recall that Halifax took about 6 weeks to send my statements. I recieved them in 37 indivudual envelopes. I took ages to takes the windows out so I could put the envelopes in the recycling bin.
I sent my charges letter in July which they never replied to. I did my claim on line this month, they responded in 5 days and promptly paid up!!!
Good Luck

I getting worried now just been on the consumer site and people are talking about the halifax not responding to the DPA letter, my 40 days are up this week any suggestions on what I should be getting ready to do next. I have no idea on the amount that I have paid over the last six years in charges.
Thanks0 -
If Halifax don't respond within 40 days you can report them to the Information Commissioner (I think) because they are failing a legal obligation - details of what you need to write are over on the consumer action group site.

I must admit Halifax didn't Bat an eyelid when I sent them my claim letter. When I used MCOL, they paid up promptly and so far haven't closed my account!! (Although I've switched!!)
Good Luck;)0
