Actually i wanted to say something to every nice person that has posted on this site. All of you, even Steve who appears to be picking me up in a wheelbarrow. Half term starts today and this is the first half term when my blood sugars have been relatively ok. My diabetes has always been exacerbated by stress, the fact that you guys are here makes it feel like a proper family. Something i have never really had. And i dont feel so all alone. It is easier to cope with the stress from work and other stupid hassles that might drag me down, you know? When i finally get round to seeing my doctor (keep forgetting to go to see him) i am sure he will be pleased. Must book appointment (3 weeks late) next week.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220

Hi guys - have you too made up yet?

I've been cutting Mr 3Dogs' hair - doesn't take long - No. 1 all over his head, then just trim round his ears and neck line. And I've been sorting some of my things out for tomorrow - we couldn't find my small trolley case and I didn't want to take one of the large ones, and in the end I gave up and said I would use a large case and guess where my trolley case was? ........................ yep inside the large case, of course
I've just had a phone call from my sister who was still at the hospital from 6 pm visiting. When she got there at 6 pm, couldn't find Mam, asked nurse who said that she had a bowel infection and needed to be isolated so they had put her in a single room out of the way. My sister found her in a room, opposite the exit, with nothing to watch and occupy her mind, but also out of sight of the nurses desk. Mam just wanted to go home, asked if my brother could come and fetch her, and kept trying to get out of bed. My Sister calmed her down and went to see the nurses again to complain, but they just said there was nothing they could do as she had to be isolated in case other patients caught it. My sister was livid as the nurses couldn't possibly keep an eye on her where she was, but they said they would look in on her every 10 minutes so she'd be OK. My sister was not impressed with this reply as there was 3 nurses and with all the other patients, they could not possibly manage to check her every 10 mins, and a lot could happen in 10 minutes anyway. They again said that there was nothing they could do, so my Sister said that she was staying the night with Mam, sleeping in the chair. The nurses said they didn't think she couldn't do that, so she said, you'd better check then, cause I'm staying. The nurses came back to say it was OK for her to stay but it was at her own risk and they could accept no liability for her. My sister had gone striaght from work and had not eaten, the cafe was closed and her husband was sitting in the car park waiting for her. she went out to give the car park token to him and told him to go home and get something to eat, but that she would do without as she was so worked up and upset. So when she rang me, she was going back into the ward to sit in the chair and watch Mam all night. I told her I would be in Newcastle at 10.05 am and I would ring her mobile then to see what was happening.
Even in the short time when my sister was talking to the nurses, Mam had the blankets back and was trying to get out of bed to get out of there, so there was no way that Sis was leaving her there alone. What makes it all worse is that 5 years ago our Dad was admitted to the same hospital, same ward, after a fall with a chest infection, caught the clostridium difficile bug there, was put into isolation and died days later. I can't wait to get up there now
