It's started - first phone call today - feeling scared

Send the "stop calling" letters now - they have I think about 30 days to action it - ie update all systems and what not... so hit it on the head NOW

As for the get out of debt free stuff... if you think the debts are legitimate then I think you're merely poking a hornets nest myself but up to you
Remember they don't HAVE to freeze interest on the debts and if they think you're trying to wriggle out of it they will be a LOT more likely to go for CCJs quicker and would see no reason to freeze interest to help...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

I made a complaint to Barclaycrad who were ringing me 9 or 10 times a day and that stopped as soon as the letter went in.
If you do pick up the phone or speak to them just repeat that you are on a DMP, your appointed third partys are CAP and they are dealing with your debts. You can hang up if you want if your not feeling strong enough to deal with them. I mean, what are they going to do to you? Come round and tell you off?
You have informed them in writing that you are on a DMP so you are keeping them abreast of the situation. You have fullfilled your first duty, your second duty is to pay back what you owe at a rate you can afford which is what CAP are helping you do.
Its not easy but it does get better, it really does. I haven't had anything now for 4 months from 95% of my creditors and the other one finally came on board a few weeks ago and have't heard a pip from them now either for a month or so.
We have not actually informed them in writing that we are going on a DMP, do we need to do this as CAP have told us that they will contact everybody for us. Thanks0 -

We have only had one call up to now, which was yesterday, so thinking it's too early to send the letter off? We have no intention of trying to get out of paying our debts, we want to pay them off, if we can, but as I say it all depends on what happens with hubbies salary in two months time, if it drops too much then we may not have enough income to actually do it.0 -
Speak to CAP and see what they say. I'm with CCCS and I contacted all my creditors and they did the same from their end. That way I knew that everybody had been contacted even if they denied it quite a few times!I'm Debt Free :j 2/09/2013

Hi Cheeselady, just wanted to send hugs to you and to say that the phone calls do settle down once the DMP is in place. We are now 8 weeks into our DMP and the phones are now fairly quiet.
We didn't speak to anyone and vetted all our calls, CCCS have been brilliant for us and our DMP is now up and running.
Hang in there, it will be worth it

Thanks for the hugs, need them today, feel really down at the moment. If hubby's wage was going to stay the same we would be feeling a lot happier, knowing that the DMP would help us to pay off our debts, but because the new business isn't getting the take up it needs to pay everyone, and the investors cannot afford to pay out any more, his wage will drop in a couple of months, we have no idea what to yet, and that's what makes it all the more scary. Sorry for rambling on, it's just one of those days when I need to speak and get things out.
