my stupid HR department!! can my old bank stop my transaction?

Options
I knew things were going too well!! have changed bank accounts as a large part of my debt is with my old bank, set up all my DDs on my new account and have had 3 out of 9 acceptances was due to be paid today so all DDS were due to come out of the new account and my company have paid my salary into my OLD ACCOUNT:mad:  therefore dds have bounced including my rent and i have been charged by my new bank!!!!

Have transfered my salary from my old account to my new one but am worried that the old bank will stop the transaction - can they do that

honestly feel like i've gone ten steps back!!!

PS CCCCS have taken payments early due to an error but they were really good when i explained what has happend and will take the debit again on 10

  • Aww hun that's awful - I really feel for you. I was scared about that happening to me too so i phoned my work (well pestered them) to make sure they had all my new details before payday.
Can you not check right now whether or not the transferred transaction has gone through? Is it not an immediate thing? Other than that I don't know what to say.
What a rotten thing to happen! Can't you blame your employer? Can't they rectify it some how?

I hope you get this sorted, I really do...

How annoying! I can see why you're gutted.

As you're a new customer with that bank, it might be worth contacting/writing to explain the mix up and ask for a refund on this occasion for any charges incurred, as this was totally out of your control. You never know, it might be worth it.

  • did you inform your HR/Payroll dept of your change of account yourself?

often your new bank will say that they will take care of this & of changing over your DDs, SOs etc, but from my experience of working in banks & in payroll, they very often either send it too late to make a change (remember if you are paid by BACS they payment leaves your company 3 working days before you get it into your account) or in the worst cases the bank just doesn't bother informing your HR dept of the change!!
