OR phone interview

Options
Interview booked for next week and just looking for tips on how to organise myself beforehand so as to make it as painless and quick as possible - having read on here that someones took 1.5 hrs

What is it they want the answers to and how detailed?
Am I expected to remember what I bought on that credit card when the statement just says Tesco Stores for instance??

Thanks in advance :)

Mine to 1.5 hours, but Mrs F's to about 15 mins, we have different OR's

    Every OR is different.

They mainly just go through the paperwork you submitted by BR and check the info. I had as much info available as possible re: loans and cc etc. They didn't ask anythink re indivudual pursases, just what was that loan for. Credit cards we said were for general living expences. Dates of when loans were taken etc.

It is NOT as bad as you think it will be and in my experience the OR office are polite and friendly.

Good Luck and if you dont know an answer just say. (obviously if its where did that 10,000 loan go, your best to have an answer)

Have as much info as you can to hand, don`t worry about what you have as the OR can get anything they need for themselves. My OR did not go in to great details about any specific purchases, they will want to get a feel of how you got to the position where you are now. I was dreading this part the most but it was no where as bad as I thought it would be. Just be totally honest, if you do not know the answer to a question then say so, don`t try to make something up. When they are quiet do not carry on talking as they are usually making notes. People say to have a drink handy but my hands were shaking that much I could not pick the cup up :)
You will find that they are generally very nice and will try to put you at ease, they will have most probably seen the same situation you are in hundreds of times, so please do not worry (easier said than done) and like I said be 100% up front with them. Mine took over 1 hour but the time actually flew by.

  • Mine took just under an hour & was with one of the clerks at the OR office. She sounded young & I think was asking set questions & just looking for a set answer that fitted one of the tick boxes.

ie...what did I use the car for?...she needed me to mention `for work` etc

In terms of discussing various accounts it was just general stuff...ie what was this loan for? ...answer household, pay off overdraft, car etc & no receipts were requested even though I had them all ready.

My advice....just be as organised as you can, answer the questions asked to the best of your ability & try not to waffle on about irrelevancies...& remember their time is precious too.

    Hope that helps

Dreaded it real bad. Sweaty palms etc, but REALLY wasn't as bad a i feared. Its not pleasent explaining outloud how you ended up in the position you are, it brings back all the memories, but its a necesity to get through it.

    Take it easy
