Dilemma about my new varifocal glasses

Hi folks
I just picked up my first pair of varifocals, from Specsavers,Thursday last week, and getting on with them quite well.
But noticed when I go from outside to inside a shop say,the distance vision is not as good, and notice the distortion more.I am looking at the correct part of the lens too.
I noticed this also at work,as I work for Screwfix,as a retail counter assistant, going from the shop side to warehouse ,the distance is not as clear.
I went into my local store, and ws looked after by the MD,who adjusted the frames, saying the new frame was too curved,he took my old single vison glasses for comparison
And chose a taylor made option, for my new varifocals
The chap did say to come into the store in a few days and let him know how the adjustments are.
Anyone else experienced low light/night time problems with varifocals?
I know I got to get used to them, but this is very odd0 -
I have been wearing varifocals for 5 years with no problems but my eyes have slowly deteriorated so I felt I needed change. My long vision was OK but reading was getting harder.
I went to Specsavers and took up the 2 for the price of one offer and I am not happy with the results. I cannot complain about the service or attention I received but the glasses just don't seem to be right for me.
They have now had 3 attempts to get them right. Initially the optician tested my eyes and decided that I needed an increase in my lens in both short and long vision. When I got them, I felt that I was wearing someone elses glasses, I just couldn't see properly.
To cut a long story short, they decided to do a retest and came to the conclusion that they would leave the long vision the same as my old glasses but leave the increase in the short vision. When I got them back, they were even worse however, that was due to a clerical error, they had written the prescription wrong and one of the lenses was incorrect.
I have now got them back for a thrid time and although initially, in the shop they seemed OK, after 3 days, I am not happy with my vision wearing the new glasses. It seems that unless I hold my head in a certain way, I am getting blurred vision when I briefly catch the lower part of the lens. Watching TV is difficult unless I hold my head in a certain way. I should say that for reading, my vision is much better with the new glasses.
I plan to go back in to the shop today and ask for a refund but I thought I would ask here first. Am I wrong to think that with the correct glasses I should have almost perfect vision?
As I stated above, I am not new to varifocals so I know what to expect.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
I found that Tesco dont take the varifocal measurement properly. The technician sits nice and comfy and the customer has to lean forward in an un natural position which makes the specs drop.
It throws the whole thing out. Also clean specs with bleach free washing up liquid and any clean cotton cloth. I have Tesco specs and its the only way to keep them clean. Dont have any coatings at all its a rip off0 -
Been posted many time, SS are a franchise, so will vary. Varifocal lenses are not cheap, go for the cheap option they are poor. SS sell a range of VF lenses like most opticians. Ive got the second dearest, they are fine.0

If quality is not satisfactory, the smart thing to do would be to go somewhere else, not to give them more money0 -

Unless there is some independent testing, we will never know.
Price is no indication of quality since there could be other factors; for instance profit margin and advertising costs.0 -
I've always been wary of trying varifocals. They seem like too much of a compromise to me and the scope for error and dissatisfaction seems greater with the newer fashions for smaller lenses. I 'mean a couple of decades ago when deirdre Langton dinner plate specials were de riguer there was plenty of space in which error could be accomodated.
So i currently just stick with my "normal" lenses and either peer over then or nip them down my nose a bit. Fortunately i have not run out of nose yet ha !Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
