When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :)

Hi everyone

Off to the beach today for some time to relax! Changed my avvy to my favourite beach in the world (on Iona) and now can't wait! Not that we're off to Iona, but going to Cleethorpes for some arcade fun and some fish and chips on the beach :)

Small things:
  • Walking to train station - no taxis for us!
  • Pre-booked tickets so they were cheaper
  • Set my max bids on e bay - and not going to increase them!
Erm, can't think of owt else...

Have a great weekend everyone!

Catch up with you later :D

Morning La E and thanks for starting us off.

A busy day for me to follow a very busy week - we're going to the Magnificent Seven boxing thing in Birmingham tonight (it was OH's birthday present) and I have a ton of things to do first.

    So my list....
    • Walk dogs (already done) done
    • Go to building society to withdraw money from nan's account to pay for care home fees done
    • Go to bank to pay in a cheque and get some cash for the week done
    • Print out map for the hotel for tonight (already paid for) done
    • Find the boxing tickets done
    • Drop my dog off at the kennels for the night
    • Meet mum to give her the little dog back after her holiday at 2.30 in Birmingham
    • Write shopping list done
    • Hoover downstairs done
    • One load of washing and dry naturally done
    • Pop to Boots for some makeup (why does it all run out at the same time!) done
    • Pack a bag for tonight done
    • If I have time, write one or two lessons for next week no hope, but I have done all of the other weekend jobs so will have plenty of time tomorrow
    • Food shopping if there's time (£6 voucher to use that expires tomorrow, can do this then if I run out of time) done
    • Go to boxing!
    • Phone hairdressers done
    • Pay council tax (late:o) done
That's it for now - if I get all that done in thetime I have it'll be a miracle!
    Have a good day!
    Rachel xx

Right all that remains is to drop the dogs off and get to the hotel and then the boxing - am looking forward to a sit down in the car!

    Morning All

Off to view DS1's house - about 100 miles away so more driving economically for me :oand I'm very excited :D

    So today I have/will:
    • folded clothes to put in the suitcase, without ironing them as I'd only iron them the other end also :rotfl:
    • take apples for D-i-L
    • get DS1 to deliver f-i-l present so save expensive postage :D and compel him to visit his Grandad :D
    • eat leftovers tonight for supper - yay I love leftovers:j:o
    • check banking
    • knit in front of TV tonight - I'm on my own and looking forward to it
    • catch up on phone calls - free while I'm in the UK :D
I sneakily told DD that in Feng Shui her room was powerful in the "Friendship" area, and so she needs to clear it to allow the Chi to flow and restore her social life. :rotfl::rotfl:Do you think it will work?

And to make up postage I bought a Wedding Scrapbook for d-i-l (to be) should I give it before the wedding or after????

thanks everybody, have a great day :A

Morning all. I hardly slept last night thanks to some (thankfully rare) party going on next door. I can barely type!

    Today I will:

    * Withdraw Ebay profits from Paypal account
    * Post Ebay items
    * Take my cards to sell at a local fair
    * Go to the Post Office to get change for a cash float for the fair Boo, PO wouldn't help; thank you Santander!
    * Brisk walk to the fair (25 minutes)
    * Go for a run / go to the gym
    * Take a flask of tea to the fair so I don't buy any drinks! - FAIL!
    * Finish backing up my laptop
    * Put the recycling out
    * Source a free hat / head-dress for a friend's 30th party tonight
    * Print off some copyediting work that I need to do, so I can do it whilst I'm manning my stall at the fair - not money saving, but time saving...!

    I think that's about it... :)

I hope everyone else is having a great day, too - I can't believe how Wintery-cold it feels today, despite the sun...!
