Ok lets be honest here, you should not have taken out a PDL just after starting a DMP. Having said that I took some out while in a DMP.
Did you tick any boxes to say you weren't in a dmp or anything?
If it was me I would complain to the OFT and make a formal complaint to kristel.martinson@minicredit.co.uk and copy in claims@minicredit.co.uk.
You need a breakdown of charges and interest and complain about being accused of fraud. This is very serious and wonga were censured for trying the same trick.
I hear that minicredit may be on the verge of having their licence revoked

Such a bizarre thread. Lots of chat about 'deceitful' payday loan companies. Companies who offer a service, people who actively seek and accept such a service, who sign up to the terms required by such companies then when it comes to actually paying back what they owe, suddenly have problems and it is the fault of the payday loan companies not their own. The fact someone needs to look at payday loans should perhaps ring alarm bells and be the trigger they need to alter their own spending and lifestyle before relying on a short term fix such as these. I'm sure most are taken out in desperation but few in real need through poverty. Call me old fashioned but people have managed for decades without payday loans. Someone who signs up for these kows what they are getting into and knows what they have to pay back. It's written in black and white. I am no angel as far as money is concerned but my sympathy is all but thin. Take out a payday loan and look forward to the long term repercussions. It's a simple decision to make - don't Do it. To coin a famous phrase "you have sown the wind, so you shall reap the whirlwind". Peace

Smi just to clear up a few points. I think most people agree that pdls are not good however people use them when they are desperate. These companies pay lip service to the requirements on checking affordability. What is really criminal is the way they react when you do get into difficulty. Accusing someone of fraud without evidence or telling them to get a solicitor (who, unless you are actually arrested you will need to pay for) . In my case i had been estranged from my wife for 10 years but these was no option for separated so i put single. I then found her dead. These mustards accused me of lying because i had said i was single.
The poster came here for help not judgement,to coin another old phrase if you have nothing good to say,say nothing

I m experiencing problems with Mini credit as well and have raised the issue. Not only a 19.50 fast transfer fee which is not visible. I didnt want it and where is the option to opt in or out? They are also claiming they tried to take my loan repayment at deadline and the repayment failed --which is untrue and now adding 25 pound interest daily.. If this happens to anyone -let them give evidence to the bank that they tried to take the payment.

Onya. when working out a payment plan do not be bullied. Only pay what you owe and not what they say. Keep a paper trail and should in the unlikely event they try the ccj route then defend as they only seem to go that route when they think they will get a default.
  • I too a payday loan with mini credit in july a week or less after i joined a.dmp i then received nasty phone calls from a company called opos threatning me saying that it was fraud and they began asking me for ridiculous amounts of money otherwise they would.pursue with fraud i couldnt afford this as a hundred pound.loan had gone upto 1145.00 pound i contacted the financial ombusmen who then contactedd mini credit who then phoned me and cut thel loan to five hundred but then again a received a phone call again from opos/ drswho said i need to get a solicitor as its now a fraud case i did intend on paying the loan back but i got.myself in a mess and had to join a dmp i left this within the.hands of my dmp as they took on the loan i cant understand how it is fraud i diddnt avoid paying the loan. I have also.tried.working with.opos to try a different amount outside my dmp as they scared me with the fraud stuff. i just need to k.ow whether this can be fraud or.not please kayleigh

Hi Kayleigh did this ever get resolved i have had threatening phone calls today form opus they said because i entered into a dmp after taking out the load that i have committed fraud and they will be going to the police. I had already decided to enter a dmp plan after getting into a mess with a few payday loans and decided to go on to a dmp after taking the loan with mini credit because i wanted to stop the viscious circle of payday loans i borrowed 125 back in November they now say i owe over 1000 but on Monday they called to say 300 poundwould close the account now there saying a 1000 i really dont know what to do

    Hi Melb
Try not to get worked up about those !!!!!!!s at minicredit. When I applied I said I was single (I had been by myself for 9 years but never divorced) Then I found my wife dead, so when I got it together I wrote and said very sorry, found my wife said etc etc. Their response was "you committed fraud as you said you were single"
I would write to them kristel.martinson@minicredit.co.uk and the contact email address and tell them you are reporting to the OFT. Then do it.

Do not worry about these scum, if opos get involved you shold be able to work out a real repayment, if not tell them to stuff.

SnV ( i think he is on here) or if not on all/about/debt is a good guy
