  • Just wait till you make a victoria sponge cake with it!!:j

I kept walking round with yet another slice, and just kept warbling on about what a fantastic sponge cake it was:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I got mine (a A701) from freecycle, and I know how excited you are:D

Sorry 'bout the squiggle though :(
  • I got one on freecycle last week after giving mine away & missing it desperately. Just as i was leaving the lady said ' i dont suppose you want a pressure cooker' so i thought i might (we have had various stews for the last 4 days - superb!) and how about a jam thermometre. Just broken mine so another yes. Just like winning the lottery I thought.

So basically i love Kenwood Chefs, and i love freecycle & I love nice people that give you things instead of chucking them out, and i really love appreciating these things.

Goes off all smiley & at peace with the world!.......

Aaaah. So much love for the Kenwoods out there. Still haven't used it, as am sulking, but soon it will be dinner time. Have to prove to hubby how fabulous it is before he gets upset about the amount of space it's taking up!

  • Do you know I'm sure OH said his mum used to have one, and she never throws anything out. I shall have to investigate their loft before OH gets in there and takes it to the tip. He disposed of her deep fat fryer that way and didn't tell me untill it was too late. Men!

Sooo upset... I was washing the glass blender jug last night and noticed a chip on the rim... Still usable, but still...stupid...I don't even know when it happened, but sure I didn't buy it like that... Pooooey.

    Using it too much perhaps...

I must admit to using the acrylic liquidiser and kenlyte bowl for everything now - I was always chipping the porcelain bowls and glass liquidiser while doing the washing up! They don't look as nice, but are much more user-friendly IMO!:p

    P.S. what did you make?

  • I bought a second hand one 18 years ago and have had no problems. There is only one rule - don't put it away in a cupboard. Mine is used a lot - it's great for bread making -make your own pizza bases with a dash of olive oil or sundried tomato oil, basil etc and your husband will appreciate it and you!!
  • I also acquired a 701 via freecycle, and I have to keep touching it and looking at it! My husband just shakes his head in bewilderment, but agrees the retro style and quality is ace. We keep ours out on the worktop with a cover which was made by the lady who parted with it, which eerily enough is in the same fabric as our family kitchen curtains back in the 70's. Still experimenting with it though, and need to buy a coffee grinder for it, and maybe a shredder........... but I do have a mincer, blender and cream maker.
