DH's name only on mortgage and house deeds- how does this affect me in the future?

hi, I wondered if anyone could help me just wanted a bit of advice or anyone else been in the same situation?
My husband and I have been married for 5 yrs and have three children. We have sold our house and are renting. The house we are buying should complete in two weeks.
My husband has asked me to sign some forms this week saying that all the money in the house is his! Is this normal?
The 2nd point is the mortgage is in his name only. IF anything was to happen in the future like we split up... Would I be entitle still to my share in the house...? What affect does only him being on the mort:ogage have on myself?
Many thanks any comments welcome. K

Hi. As you are married, if you were to split up in the future you would have a claim whether or not you're on the mortgage. However, it sounds like he's asking you to sign a deed of trust or something similar in which case you would overwrite any entitlement that marriage brings. My advice - don't sign anything, irrelevant if he pays the mortgage alone or not.0

You need to speak to a solicitor on this, and do not sign anything before seeking legal advice.
As far as I am aware you can lodge a matrimonial interest charge on the property. It is not unusual for a mortgage to be in a single name so this has probably been cobered many times by any solicitor.

By, some catch youve got there, makes me wonder if he's planning something.
Tell him a big fat no. Stand your ground, see a solicitor.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
who se name was the house in that has just sold.
Did you buy it together,
I cant believe my eyes that I am reading this to be honest, of course its not normal.
He is definitely planning something, or he's just plain nuts or he thinks you are.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I don't feel its normal hence the post but just wanted someones else viewpoint to confirm.
The last house was his name but never had to sign these forms before! He says it's in his name because a) it's easier to apply for, b) I was on mat leave so not working.0 -
Seems totally unreasonable to me. I am on our mortgage even though my husband's salary was the only income taken into account and hubby pays the mortgage each month. I contribute in other ways to the household and you as mother to his children are doing the same.
Can you not go on the mortgage anyway?

You'd be mad to sign this. Completely unreasonable - you're married for goodness' sake!******** Never be a spectator of unfairness or stupidity *******"Always be calm and polite, and have the materials to make a bomb"0

I put in 80% of my wages and run the house. He says it will cost too much to put me on and it will be to complicated and more straight forward for just his name.
He says if I don't sign we will loose the house and its too late to change it now!0 -

It does sound very odd - I would wonder also what he is up to? Maybe I am too much of a cynic. I agree with the other posters that you should seek legal advice. Even CAB should be able to help?I have been in the insurance industry for the past 6 1/2 years (protection products)
We have now bought our first home :j(completion date - 23.07.2010)
Wedding budget: £2,000 so far spent: £1,850. Wedding date of 27.08.2011 :T0 -
Call his bluff then, tell him you will just have to lose the house then, and see what he says.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
