I have a private solicitor due to not being able to find one that would give me lagal aid and am in a battle with my ex husband who is wanting the children to reside with him. He as paid £5,000 for an independant solicitor to interview us all and the report will go back to the court and they will decide were to the children will live. I am working part time and have not received maintenance for 3months now and have a £3,000 pound bill that is building up due the court case. I cannot understand why I am not getting legal aid and have been told I have assets in the joint property which my ex husband is living in at the moment and cant resolve anythink until contact as been sorted. My ex husband is controlling and abusive thats why I left and is using the children to get at me and he is also malipulating them this is only so he doesnt have to sell the house and pay maintenance. I am really stressed between the solicitors fees and the situation and bad advice from my solicitor who keeps telling me he wont take any fees untill settlement is finalized but he is the only one that is gaining and is not supporting me in this case.
